How to Measure Your Child’s Foot for Stride Rite Shoes

You need two numbers: foot length and ball circumference.
Trace your child’s foot on paper from heel to longest toe, and wrap a ribbon around the ball of the foot for width. Stride Rite stores also use a Brannock Device for a quick in-person check. For the full measuring method, see our Kids Shoe Size Chart guide.
How to Check Stride Rite Shoe Fit
Have your child stand up in both shoes.
Length
Press your thumb at the toe. Toes should wiggle freely. They should not touch the front, and the foot should not slide forward.
Width and Depth
The ball of the foot should feel snug, with no pinching. Run your thumb over the top of the shoe. The fabric should ripple slightly. Taut fabric means the shoe is too shallow. If you can pinch the fabric into a ridge, it is too deep.
Heel and Movement
The heel should grip without digging in. Ask your child to walk, jump and run. Stumbling or a changed walk means the fit is off.
